Time for an Update!!

Life In Hawaii on Hui Ulili Street...

Connor's 1st Day of Kindergarten

Finally, I have a chance to sit down and update my blog (for the first time, in what, 6 months?)!! Grady, the kids, and I made our 8 hour flight to Hawaii on August 30th. I dreaded the flight with Ansley, who isn't known for sitting still, and Connor, who has mood swings at the drop of a hat BUT we made it and to my surprise it wasn't any worse than I had anticipated =)
We stayed in a hotel on base for 2 1/2 weeks before we found a house out in town. Our little house on Hui  Ulili Street is on a nice quiet street nestled in front of a "rain forest", it is a nice size for our little family, but has taken some getting use to. First, there is no AC so it took us a few weeks to get use to the heat (during the day) and the humidity at night. The second, the washer and dryer are outside under the carport, hmmm, not my first choice to put a washer/dryer but I've learned that's the norm here in Hawaii. We decided to rent this little house for 6 months because we are still on the wait list for base housing (6-9 month wait)...

In October, Grady recieved word that he will be deploying to Afganistan for 6 months. At first I was devistated, afterall, when we found out we were moving here we were told this was a "non-deploying unit". Then, I realized that I have met many great people here in Hawaii (other military wives, a great church, and even reconnected with old friends). I have people here who will help me, Connor, and Ansley get through this time. And I am thankful!! However, timing of his deployment worried me! What will we do when our lease runs out and we still have no house on base? Should I move back to Texas? I asked myself these questions for months and I PRAYED and PRAYED for God to give me answers... Then, one morning the phone rang-- it was Forest City Base Housing!! They have a house for us and I couldn't be more relieved, nor could Grady. The next morning our landlord called and said our house had sold... The timing in this case couldn't have been any better!! Prayer works =)
So now that we are all settled in our house on Hui Ulili Street we will be moving on base in less than two weeks-- on our 7 year anniversary, none- the- less!! I know that our new house will be HOME for us-- we won't have to worry about moving again until we move off the island! Grady can rest safely at night in Afganistan knowing we are safe on base, surrounded by other people going through the same thing. And that alone makes everything alright with me...  Stay tuned for Life in Hawaii on Brown Drive... =)

Happy Holiday's from our family to yours!!

10 Goals

Do you have goals in life? Short or long term? Write them down and check them off once you have accomplished them. It's called living YOUR life to the fullest of YOUR potential!
1). To spend at least 1 hour a day of quailty time with each of my children-- talking, playing, walking, listening! I think every parent should try and see life thru a child's eyes =)

2). Learn to decorate cakes! One day I hope to be GREAT at this... Until then I hope my family loves to eat random cakes and cupcakes =)

3). Run a marathon! Yes, and entire marathon (32.something miles, I think)... By the time I turn 30 ; )

4). Become good friends with an elderly person who has been thru it all-- Marriage, kids, grandkids, death of a loved one, the good and the bad. I think you could learn alot from someone who has had a lifetime of experiences...

5). Learn something new every day... A new word and its meaning, an interesting fact...

6). To surround myself with positive people and to leave negitative people with something positive to think about...

7). To own a resturant... It's a biggy I know!!

8). To be the best wife & mother I can be...

9). To talk to my family at least once a week on the phone...

10). To make a difference in someone's life...

There you have it--- 10 goals I have set for myself! Share your list with someone =)

Let Summer Begin...

I love summer-- hot weather, blue skies, BBQ's, chasing my kiddos around the pool, camping... Memorial Day weekend was our offical kick off to SUMMER 2010!!

Ansley Belle wearing her new bathing suit for the first time this summer. In this picture, she had just sat down in the dirt and looked up at me and said, "Uh-Oh!" I have always thought Ansley looked more like Grady than me but in this picture she looks just like I did when I was little.

Miss Ansley sitting with her daddy- this is one of her favorite places to be! Look at the expression on their faces-- the same!?!

Connor getting spraying with water-- I love it! My little man is a fish and I can't wait to take him to the beach in Hawaii!!

The kids and I on Mother's Day!! They are my world and I thank God for them everyday =)
